Keynote Speaker

Dr. Joyce E. King Ph.D
 

Joyce E. King Ph.D.Joyce E. King, Ph.D. holds the Benjamin E. Mays Chair of Urban Teaching, Learning, and Leadership in the College of Education at Georgia State University. She is a graduate of Stanford University where she received a Doctor of Philosophy in the Social Foundations of Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. As a W.K. Kellogg Foundation Fellowship recipient, Dr. King studied women’s participation in grass roots social change movements in Africa, South America and France. Her publications include the books Black Education: A Transformative Research and Action Agenda for the New Century; Preparing Teachers for Diversity; Teaching Diverse Populations; and Black Mothers to Sons: Juxtaposing African American Literature with Social Practice. Dr. King also serves on the board of directors of Our Developing World and the international women’s peace and justice organization, Women and Life on Earth.

Presentation Topic: Dysconscious Racism as it impacts our work in preparing teachers to work with all students in this current high stakes and accountability enviroment.
